1.6. HelpSpot 5 Windows Installation Changes

New Installations:

In order to accommodate a more flexible installation and administration process for Windows HelpSpot installs we are now recommending using the process outlined here to install HelpSpot. This process allows easy updates to each system component and allows for more customization based on system architecture requirements. In general the support for PHP on windows has improved greatly since we introduce the windows installer. So, the automated setup through an install tool is no longer needed.

Updates

Updates are also being streamlined into a process very similar to the linux update process. This process will require less downtime and be less prone to errors based on system customization. If you need to update your instance from HelpSpot 4 (which was installed with the windows installer) to HelpSpot 5 we have documented those steps here.
