11.2. How to Reorder Custom Fields
Overview
When you open a request in HelpSpot, any custom fields assigned to that request's category are displayed on the right-hand side. These fields appear in a specific order, and that order can be adjusted at any time from the Admin area.

Steps to Reorder Custom Fields
- Click Admin in the top navigation.
- Go to Custom Fields.
- Click Set Order.
- Drag fields up or down to your desired order.
- Click Done when finished.
The new order takes effect immediately. When you return to a request, the custom fields will reflect the updated arrangement.
About the Master Field List
When you open the Set Order screen, you may notice more fields listed than what appears on any individual request. This is expected — the list shows all custom fields across every category in your HelpSpot instance. Only the fields assigned to a specific category will be visible when that category's request is opened, so reordering here applies globally and each request will display its relevant subset in the new order.
